1. haiti earthquake
ReplyDelete2. The post title spoke about how the earthquake was "long overdue", which was a bit of info that I hadn't heard before
3. It is very straightforward and factual, presenting the reader with a few important facts that make the rest of the post understandable for an uniformed reader.
4. Somewhat intimidating, just basic and pretty official looking with multiple links and minimal colors.
5. The author writes this blog in a way that could be for any reader, no matter their level of knowledge about the Haitian earthquake. She quickly summarizes, but then delves deeper into detail in order to communicate the unique information in her specific article.

I searched for Unc Basketball.
ReplyDeleteIt had a natural, less-formal style of writing and seemed to be the observations of a devoted fan of Unc's basketball team.
The introduction is blunt and critical. I liked how he didn't beat around the bush when it came to pinpointing the truth.
The blog's layout is a simple, Carolina-blue fomrat. Because of this, I found it attractive and inviting.
The author assumes his reader's are followers of Carolina basketball, as he is, and develops his thoughts accordingly.

1. I just scrolled down the page until I could find an interesting blog.
ReplyDelete2. The topic was about an iPhone, which I'm familiar with and can relate to.
3. The post's title uses words such as "magic" to catch the reader's attention and interest.
4. The layout isn't very unique, it's actually quite disorganized. It doesn't seem neither inviting or intimidating.
5. The author assumes the person has knowledge of iPhones and new technology. Yes, these assumptions are true for me.
I chose to do a post on Brandon Willis switching his college commit from Tennessee to UNC. The website is www.obsrecruiting.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI searched for UNC recruiting because I am really interested in the future of Carolina Athletics.
I chose this post because it involves a story that I was already following, the Lane Kiffin departure from Tennessee to USC and all the controversy surroudning it.
I think the hook is them portraying the situation and you can kind of see it going on.
The blog layout is extremely simple. White background, and black text. So it isn't intimidating. But the lack of color doesn't really exactly draw people in.
Considering it is a sports blog, the writer assumes prior knowledge in sports or atleast that you follow them. Devin Cooney
Has the Arrested Development Movie Finally Quit Playing Games With Our Hearts?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2010/01/has-the-arrested-development-movie-finally-quit-pl.html
1)Arrested Development
2)I liked the title of the post.
3)He describes the fickle past of the possible movie which mostly catches the attention of the show's fan.
4)The layout is fairly simple. There is a warm color scheme at the heading of the blog but the rest of the blog is plain. The top seems inviting but as you scroll down there are more related comments and advertisements that are a bit overwhelming.
5)The author is assuming that the audience already knows of the show and has been looking forward to the movie. These are both true.

Blog: Week in Rewind by Christopher Smith
ReplyDeletehttp://www.weekinrewind.com/2010/01/american-idol-episode-two-of-season.html
1. To find this post I searched the 'Television' link
2. I chose this post because I love the audition episodes of American Idol, and I watched the auditions in Atlanta last night.
3. The beginning of the post introduces the second night of auditions and does a throwback to seasons past, by highlighting what people love about American Idol auditions: some great talent, but mostly hilarious flops. The writer tries to hook the reader with detail and a quote from the infamous judge Simon from last night.
4. The blog's layout is really colorful, bright, and interesting. It is a little intimidating, because of the ads at the top which are the first things you see.
5. The blogger conceives his audience as insiders. He assumes the audience watched the night of auditions, because he refers to contestants by name. Although he does describe some of the contestants for outsiders, it would be difficult to imagine if I hadn't watched the show. For me, his assumptions were true.

ReplyDelete1) On Google Blog Search I selected the "technology" link and found it on the first page.
2) It seemed much more interesting than the others on the page.
3) The blog immediately lays out several statistics and facts related to iPhone application piracy.
4) The layout is rather bland with a white background and black text with no images. There are advertisements on either side of the text.
5) The blog is essentially only relevant to those who own iPhones, though it is still interesting to those of us who don't.

1. Indie Music Blogs
ReplyDelete2. Vampire Weekend is one of my favorite bands.
3. The post basically praises the band, so if you're a fan you're hooked.
4. It's inviting; organized and great pictures.
5. If you're not familiar with the band, you could be confused at some points.

1. "Heavy metal." Since this isn't letting me paste, I'll just say that it was the very first result. It's a blog post about how Christopher Lee is releasing a heavy metal musical about Charlemagne.
ReplyDelete2. Well we were a bit short on time, and this just sounds like it could be really awesome or hilariously bad.
3. It begins with a question, which is a hook that none of my previous English teachers agree whether it's a good hook or not. Some say it works, some say it's lame.
4. Pretty plain. Easy to read.
5. The author takes time to explain who he's talking about and what that person is doing, and he uses a fair amount of examples and details to do so, so I will say he's posting for outsiders.
1. I looked up a new music blogspot and typed in an artist I enjoy.
ReplyDelete2. It has interesting posts and a unique setup compared to other music blogs.
3. It has a cool picture that tries to convince readers that it shows different aspects and stories than others.
